Structure of the Curriculum:-

Elementary School (Pre-K to 5):

This stage is for students aged between 11-14 years. It focuses on foundational skills in five major areas such as English, math, science, social studies & art. The teaching is usually interactive & active. Teachers use group work, projects, and simple activities to help build curiosity & early leadership qualities in children.

Middle School (6 to 8):

At this stage, students are usually between 11 and 14 years old. They begin to learn each subject through specialized teachers. Along with core subjects students can choose elective courses like art, music, computers & foreign languages. This phase helps them think better, ask good questions & explore different academic interests.

High School (9 to 12):

High school students aged 14 – 18 work toward a diploma by completing a required number of credits. Each course they pass adds to their credit total. They study core subjects, but can also choose AP classes or special subjects. These help them get ready for college or future plans.

Semester Format & Grading System

Most schools that follow the American curriculum have two semesters. The first goes from August to December. The second is from January to June.

Students are evaluated through daily classwork, projects, written assignments, quizzes, group work, and presentations. Teachers track progress consistently and adjust instruction based on where students are struggling or excelling.

Grades are usually given as letters, from A+ to F. Some schools use a five-letter system (A to F), others expand it to seven (including plus/minus grades). Parents are kept updated through report cards or meetings with teachers.

Purpose and Educational Goals

The goal of the American curriculum is to support well-rounded development. It aims to educate students not just academically, but socially and emotionally as well. Many schools also include life skills training, physical education & community engagement as part of their teaching model.

The American curriculum syllabus outlines specific learning goals for each subject & grade. These are usually aligned with Common Core State Standards or frameworks like AERO. This ensures consistency in learning outcomes, especially in international settings.
